CID nabs 2 for Rs.500-cr Bokaro land fraud case
DHANBAD, July 14 -- In a major crackdown on a massive land scam, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of state police on Saturday arrested two prime accused - Izhar Hussain and Akhtar Hussain - for allegedly forging documents to illegally acquire and sell over 100 acres of forest land in Tetulia Mauja, Bokaro district. The estimated market value of the land is around Rs.500 crore.
The two are accused of masterminding a fraudulent scheme involving prime government land that was originally returned by Bokaro Steel Plant to the Forest Department.
According to officials, the land was sold using forged documents, allegedly in collusion with local officials, revenue staff, and individuals associated with Bokaro Steel Plant.
The case is currently under joint investigation by the CID and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and is also being heard in the Supreme Court, which has sought original land records from the Jharkhand government....
