ARA, June 9 -- Hinting at his intention to contest Bihar Assembly elections due later this year, Union minister and LJP (RV) national president Chirag Paswan said on Sunday that he would be contesting the Assembly polls "only if people decide" and left it to them to decide the constituency. "I will contest the election not from Bihar but for Bihar. I leave this decision to you (people). You decide whether I should contest the Bihar Assembly elections, and from which seat. I will follow your decision. I am the son of Ramvilas Paswan. I will realise the dreams of my father and work for 'Bihar first, Bihari first' to change Bihar," he said recalling an old slogan he had coined ahead of the previous Assembly polls in 2020. The LJP (RV) national president was addressing party activists of seven districts on Sunday at 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabha' here. He, however, made it clear that this would help NDA in getting a better strike rate. "Let me make one thing very clear. My contest will only ensure a better strike rate for my party, which would help the NDA," he said. On Saturday, while talking to media persons in Patna, Chirag had clarified that he was not eyeing CM's post. "... I am sorry to see attempts being made within the coalition to create misgivings that I have set my eyes on the chief minister's chair," the 42-year-old politician said. Paswan, former Lok Janshakti Party president, whose rebellion in the 2020 Assembly polls had caused JD(U)'s tally to crash, said he would like to forecast that after the elections, the "NDA will form its strongest government ever in Bihar, under Nitish Kumar's leadership". He said they had a goal in Bihar to gain all time high seats. They will work to gain more than 225 seats in the NDA. Hailing PM Narendra Modi, he said, "Prime minister has a clear vision to make the country developed till 2047 and he has a vision to make every ward, mohalla and village of Bihar developed till then." He also praised the Union government for honouring Karpuri Thakur with Bharat Ratna. He attacked RJD and Congress and asked party activists to recall how many massacres were held during their rule. Talking to media persons, he attacked Rahul Gandhi and said he had conceded defeat by alleging 'fixing' in Bihar. He said during the rule of Congress, the election commissioners were appointed only by a signature but now a committee with members of Opposition in it appointed election commissioners. The LJP (RV) leader said till date no talk on seat sharing had been held for the Bihar election. On the occasion, LJP MP Shambhavi Chaudhary, Arun Kumar Bharti, Rajesh Verma, former MLC Hulas Pandey, state president Raju Tiwari, state president of Youth wing Ved Prakash Pandey and others were present. Programme was presided by district president of LJP (R) Rajeshwar Paswan....
