Gurugram, July 14 -- Gurugram police on Sunday said that they were not seeking statements from friends or individuals who have posted emotional tributes or allegations on social media in the aftermath of tennis player Radhika Yadav's murder. Investigators said that the charge sheet in the case is being finalised and will be filed in the court soon. The officers reiterated the claim that it was an "open and shut"case with the police having strong forensic and testimonial evidence to nail the accused. Radhika, 25, a state-level tennis player and founder of a tennis academy in Sector 56, was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, 51, at their residence in Sushant Lok Phase-3 on the morning of July 11. According to investigators, the crime was premeditated. Deepak allegedly sent his son out to buy milk-a task he usually did himself-before firing four rounds into his daughter's back while she was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for her mother on her birthday. The murder stunned the city and ignited a wave of public emotion, with many expressing dismay at the brutality of the crime. On Saturday, Himaanshika Singh Rajput, who claimed to be Radhika's best friend, posted on Instagram that Radhika had lived under severe parental restrictions and pressure to conform. Another acquaintance echoed similar concerns, claiming that Radhika had little autonomy despite her accomplishments. However, police have distanced themselves from these claims. "This is an open and shut case based on direct and circumstantial evidence. We are not calling any of Radhika's friends or those posting online to record statements," said Sandeep Kumar, Public Relations Officer of Gurugram Police. "The investigation is complete, and there is no need to involve hearsay or subjective interpretations. The evidence already on record is sufficient for prosecution." Police have also recovered the licensed revolver used in the murder along with four spent cartridges. They said Deepak Yadav confessed during interrogation, citing social pressure and personal resentment....
