PATNA, July 31 -- With all preparations going on for the publication of the updated draft electoral roll on August 1, the state election department on Wednesday said that special camps would run in all block offices and offices of the urban local bodies for inviting claims and objections from electors from August 2nd to September 1 under the Special Intensive Revision ( SIR).
The period for claims/objections from electors would begin from August 1 and continue till September 1 during which eligible electors who find their names missing from the draft rolls could apply for inclusion of name by filling up form 6 along with declaration and necessary documents as per rules. Electors who want their name to be transferred or rectified for any errors could also apply by submitting documents.
Moreover, such electors who have their name in electoral roll of other states and want their name to be enrolled in Bihar could fill up form 8 along with necessary documents.
As per the directives issued by the Election Commission of India, the special camps would be functional from 10 am to 5 pm in all block offices and offices of urban local bodies in urban areas from August 2nd to September 1 to accept applications regarding claims/ objections.
All the applications received each day would be processed by the AEROs and sent to EROs/ AEROs/BLOs as per the constituency and booth number. The ECI order has said that there should be mass awareness of the special camps for accepting objections/ claims with BLOs ( booth level officers) too to be engaged in the awareness drive so that general people could get proper knowledge of the exercise to be done under the ongoing SIR.
The ECI order has also said that proper monitoring of the special camps for accepting claims/objections should be done with appointment of a designated officer for the work.
