PATNA, July 30 -- The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar cabinet gave nod to open dairy plants in five districts of Bihar among the total 41 proposals it approved on Tuesday, said a communique from the information and public relations department. Briefing mediapersons after the cabinet meeting, S Siddharth, additional chief secretary of the cabinet coordination department said the dairy plants, including two milk powder plants, would be opened at Darbhanga, Rohtas, Gaya, Sitamarhi and Gopalganj, on which the government would spend Rs.316 crore. Giving nod to the animal husbandry and fish resources department's proposal, the state cabinet approved SIDBI Cluster Development Fund (SCDF) approved loan for setting up a dairy plant each at 2 lakh litre capacity at Darbhanga and Wazirganj (Gaya Ji) while another plant of one lakh litre capacity is to be set up at Gopalganj, Siddharth told reporters here. The dairy plant at Darbhanga will be set up at a cost of Rs.71.32 crore while two other plants at Gaya Ji and Gopalganj will be set up at cost of Rs.50.27 crore and Rs.54.73 crore, respectively. The milk powder plant will be set up at 30 metric tonne each at Dehri-On-Sone (Rohtas) and Sitamarhi, Siddharth said, adding that plant at Rohtas and Sitamarhi will be set up at a cost of Rs.69.66 crore and Rs.70.33 crore, respectively. The cabinet also gave a revised approval of Rs.165.57 crore for the acquisition of 50 acres of land for tourism related development work and infrastructure facilities at Punauradham temple, believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita, in Sitamarhi district, said Siddharth, adding that earlier Rs.120.58 crore was sanctioned for the purpose, said the press release. The cabinet had on July 1 sanctioned Rs.882.87 crore for the integrated development of Maa Janki's grand temple at Punaura Dham. It will be developed on the lines of the grand Ram temple at Ayodhya. The government has already constituted a nine-member "trust" christened "Shree Janki Janm Bhumi Punaura Dham Mandir Nyas Samiti to oversee planning, funding, construction and future management of the temple." The cabinet also approved a proposal of the urban development and housing Department's proposal for constituting the Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission for the all-round socio-economic upliftment of sanitation workers in the state. "The decision to constitute the commission has been taken with an aim to ensure the protection, welfare, rehabilitation, social upliftment, grievance redressal, and monitoring of various welfare schemes for the rights and interests of sanitation workers in the state," said Siddharth. The Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission will consist of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and five members, including a woman or a transgender person, he said. The commission will play a significant role in integrating the deprived sections of society engaged in sanitation work into the mainstream and contributing to their social and economic development, he added. The cabinet also sanctioned Rs.270 crore for renovation and repairing of 67,500 classrooms and electrification work in primary schools whereas Rs.276 crore has been sanctioned for carrying out renovation work in secondary/higher secondary schools, the ACS said and added that the work would start in the current financial and will be completed by the end of 2026-27. The cabinet also hiked the monthly pension and family pension for journalists who will now get a monthly pension of Rs.15,000 against the existing Rs.6,000 and monthly family pension of Rs.10,000 against the existing Rs.3,000, Siddharth said, adding that the cabinet approved the section 4(1) and 5 of Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana Niyamawali 2019. The cabinet also gave approval for the construction of Ram Manohar Lohia Path Chakra on Nehru Path in Patna. After the completion, people of Patna will get relief from traffic snarls on Nehru Path. The cabinet also approved Rs.1,368 crore for the construction of a two-lane road and a 4-lane elevated road from AIIMS to the Patna end of Digha rail cum road bridge in Patna. The scheme will provide relief from the problem of traffic snarls while commuting on JP Ganga Path and AIIMS Patna and will provide smooth and safe transportation. The cabinet has approved the proposal to construct a flyover from Gandhi Chowk to Nagar Palika Chowk in Chapra, at a cost of around Rs.696 crore. The cabinet also approved a proposal to open new Kendriya Vidyalayas in Darbhanga and Gopalganj for which the state would give land for both schools at a token amount of one rupee each. The cabinet also approved a health department's proposal to dismiss seven doctors for prolonged unauthorised absence.
