PATNA, Aug. 8 -- The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Wednesday cancelled the matriculation mark sheet of suspended Circle Officer (CO) Prince Raj alias Dharmendra Kumar, a 2019 batch Bihar Administrative Services (BAS) officer, and informed the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU), officials said. The SVU had, in April 2025, carried out searches at the premises of the suspended officer and seized a large quantity of gold and silver ornaments, land deeds, bank passbooks, and other incriminating documents. A disproportionate assets (DA) case was lodged against him, as he was found to have assets exceeding his known sources of income. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspended CO had acquired disproportionate assets-including land, plots, flats, lockers, and fixed deposits-mostly in the name of his wife Anku Gupta, which were found to be 93% higher than his declared income. The SVU conducted simultaneous raids at three locations - Madhubani, Hazaribagh, and Sheikhpura districts. During the investigation, it was discovered that Prince Raj, also known as Dharmendra Kumar, had earlier passed the BSEB Class 10 examination with second division, under the name Dharmendra Kumar. Later, he changed his name to Prince Raj, appeared again for the BSEB matric exam, passed with first division, and used this certificate to appear in the BPSC examination, through which he secured the BAS post. Investigators also found a four-year difference in the date of birth mentioned in the two certificates-one under Dharmendra Kumar and the other under Prince Raj. The SVU sent both Class 10 certificates to the BSEB for verification. The BSEB, after verification, confirmed that Prince Raj and Dharmendra Kumar were indeed the same person, and that the mark sheet issued in the name of Prince Raj was forged. The board subsequently cancelled the certificate and informed the SVU. Following this, the SVU wrote to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department recommending strict action, including dismissal from service, against the officer who allegedly secured a government job based on a fake educational certificate....
