Brothers in EoU net fortrying to dupe doctor
PATNA, May 4 -- The economic offence unit (EoU) of Bihar police on Saturday arrested two brothers from Danapur on the charge of trying to dupe an owner/director of a prominent private hospital of Danapur of Rs.20 lakh. One of the brothers posed as former resident commissioners of Bihar Bhawan and forced the victim to transfer money after threatening him with prosecution for 'money laundering'.
The victim doctor is father-in-law of a BJP MLC.
In the complaint before the EoU, the victim, an orthopedic doctor, said that a conman posing as Karu Ram, a former Resident Commissioner with Bihar Bhawan, alerted him saying that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) would carry out raids at his premises because he had earned black money. He then asked the doctor to pay some amount so that the matter could be hushed up. The doctor asked him to send someone to take money but the conman gave him a bank account to submit Rs.5 lakh in a first instalment, said the police. The fraudster then asked the victim to arrange Rs.15 lakh more.
The victim reported the matter to EOU, and after verification, cyber police registered an FIR.
Acting on a tip-off, a EoU team raided at a place in Sultanpur locality falling under Danapur police station and arrested two siblings identified as Rajesh Kumar and Ranjit Kumar-- both are sons of a retired government school teacher....
