Boyfriend arrested for killing nursing student
PATNA, June 19 -- A 25-year- old man, accused of murdering his girlfriend, a nursing student, packing her body in a trolley bag and dumping it in a drain, was arrested on Wednesday, police said.
Inspector Deepak Samrat of Sohsarai police led the operation that apprehended Amit Kumar Das from Barbigha in Sheikhpura district, where he had been laying low.
Amit, the prime suspect in the killing of his 22- year-old girlfriend, was traced through mobile phone records and CCTV footage.
The victim, a resident of Onda village (Sare PS), lived in rented accommodation in Bihar Sharif while studying nursing at a private college in Bhagan Bigha. She left home on Tuesday morning, claiming she needed to collect her college uniform for an exam, but never returned.
According to Sadar DSP Nurul Haq, Amit invited her to his rented room in Kagji Mohalla (Bihar PS area), where an argument escalated and he slit her throat with a sharp weapon-later recovered at the scene. He then bound her limbs, concealed the body in a trolley bag, and transported it by e-rickshaw to a nearby drain behind the girl's former high school in the Sohsarai jurisdiction. Although the bag itself was not recovered, forensic teams lifted bloodstains from the wall of the crime scene.
"Following the tip-off, we first confirmed the victim's identity and then identified Amit through CCTV. His confession during interrogation has allowed us to reconstruct the sequence of events," DSP Haq said. Police have registered a murder case and continue to pursue additional leads. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses....
