Dehradun, Jan. 8 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami On Wednesday said that people living in border villages play a key role in national security, and emphasised that better coordination among the armed forces, civil administration, technical experts and local communities, was vital given the challenging terrain and sparse population of border areas. "People living in border villages are the nation's eyes and ears and play a key role in national security," he said, while speaking at a seminar -"Fortifying the Himalayas: A Proactive Military-Civil-Society Fusion Strategy in the Middle Sector" - in Clement Town, Dehradun. Dhami said discussions on Himalayan security, disaster management, infrastructure development and civil-military relations were both timely and essential, adding that inputs from the seminar would help strengthen strategic planning and contribute to the overall development of the region.
