bokaro police arrest cyber fraudster
Bokaro, Dec. 22 -- Police in Bokaro announced the arrest of alleged cyber fraudster Sankalp Kumar, alias Gold, on Sunday, accused of duping a resident of Rs.30,000 by posing as a bank manager and later fleeing with the money.
According to the officials, the police arrested Kumar in connection with a case lodged at Sector-4 police station on December 16.
"The accused was apprehended during a raid conducted in Bihar's Patna district, where he was found in the company of a woman identified as Sonia, who is suspected to be an accomplice. The arrest comes after a technical investigation and coordinated efforts by Bokaro and Patna police units," an official said.
Police said Kumar allegedly used to impersonate high-ranking professionals such as bank officials and Air Force personnel to win the trust of women and lure them into financial scams. During the operation, Rs.1.75 lakh in cash and two mobile phones were seized from his possession.
Addressing a press conference at his office, Bokaro superintendent of police (SP) Harvinder Singh said, "Our team traced the accused through sustained technical surveillance and coordinated follow-up. The arrest exposes a pattern of deception targeting women, and we are further investigating his network and links in other districts."...
