body of 28-yr-old reported missing found in Ajmer field, say police
Jaipur, June 16 -- Body of a 28-year-old man was found dead in a field in Ajmer late Saturday night, police said on Sunday, adding that he is suspected to have been beaten to death by his in-laws for marrying their daughter secretly in October.
"A complaint was filed on Friday stating that the victim, identified as Sahdev Ram, was missing since Thursday. During investigation it was found that Sahdev along with his friend, Harendra, had gone to Ajmer to appear for the exam. While returning home, Sahdev's sister-in-law and brother-in-law suddenly appeared in a bus stand. After speaking to them for a while, Sahdev asked Harendra to leave and he will come later. But, he did not return home," said Shambhu Singh, station house officer (SHO) of the Ajmer Civil Lines police station.
"On Saturday night, we found his body from an agriculture field in Jayal village in the district. The body has been sent for an autopsy. We are suspecting that he was murdered by his in-laws and registered an FIR against four of them," he said.
An FIR was lodged against Sahdev's father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and an uncle under section 140 (kidnapping to murder someone), and 102 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
"Sahdev, who was facing a dowry case lodged against him by his wife in 2023, had married Karishma in October last year despite opposition from the latter's family. Meanwhile, Karishma was also married to another person," the SHO said.
"Sahdev and Karishma also sought police protection after their marriage which was not approved. We are probing the matter," he added....
