PATNA, June 7 -- Leader of the opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the habit of surrendering. "Trump has said 11 times publicly that he made Narendra Modi surrender (to announce ceasefire of war between India and Pakistan). But, Modi is not saying anything on it, because this is a fact," he added. Rahul Gandhi made this assertion at a 'Savidhan Suraksha Sammelan', held at Rajgir, where he also targeted Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of turning Bihar into a 'crime capital' from the land of 'truth, justice and non-voilence'. It is an architecture of thought from Bihar that shaped the growth of countries like Korea, China,Japan, Vietnam, etc," said the Congress leader. "There was a time when Bihar used to show the path not only to India but to the whole world. People used to come to Nalanda for learning. Now people from Bihar are going out, as there is no job for them," said the LoP. Referring to his surrender remark against PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi said he had told Modi in Lok Sabha that he would get the caste survey done in the same Parliament, and he had surrendered. "Now the government announced it will do it in 2027. History has it that the BJP-RSS has the character of surrendering. Put a bit of pressure, and they start writing.now it's modern time. Instead of letters, there are WhatsApp messages." he added. The Congress leader feared that the BJP government would not conduct the caste census in the right manner, as it would put an end to their politics. "The day a proper caste census is done in the country, it will not be just an X-ray... it will prove to be an MRI. I want to show the country the truth about how much injustice is being done to 90% of the population. I want to do this not for politics, but for the country and for truth," added Gandhi. The leader said there was a link between the reservation bar and the caste census. "We broke the 50% reservation bar in Telangana and Karnataka, after conducting the caste-based census. The result of caste-census and the data with the government would open up a new paradigm of growth," he said, adding the 50% limit of reservation would be raised if Congress was voted to power in Bihar. Referring to the Telangana experience, the Congress leader claimed that representatives from dalits, backward classes, tribals and extremely backward classes didn't receive government contracts. "The Constitution states that this country belongs to everyone. Caste census is a way to protect this Constitution. I do not want a country where children are lied to that even if they belong to marginalised communities, they can still become doctors or engineers. The reality is that the paths for their progress simply do not exist," he added. He further added that the Constitution embodied an ancient philosophy - the thoughts of Lord Shiva, Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ambedkar, Periyar, Narayana Guru, and Basavanna. "This ideological battle has been going on for thousands of years. On one side stands Mahatma Gandhi; on the other, Godse. We must not be afraid of those who follow the ideology of RSS and BJP," he said....
