Bizman Gopal Khemka murder case: Court grants police 5-day remand of two accused
PATNA, July 12 -- In a significant development in the high-profile Gopal Khemka murder case, SDJM court, Patna on Friday granted five days of police remand to the two accused, allowing further interrogation and evidence collection.
Main accused Ashok Sao, and Umesh Yadav, said to be the shooter, were handed over to the police for five days police remand for further interrogation and collecting evidence.
Police had sought remand of the two after filling a petition in detail in connection with the murder of Khemka before the court for continuing their probe into the incident. After reviewing the case and other relevant documents, the court granted the 5-day remand to the police for further interrogation.
"With the medical examination report submitted of all the accused, given the gravity of the case and initial stage of investigation, a strong case for granting police remand is made out," said a police officer.
Sources said the police had prepared a list of around 200 questions for both the accused in which they would sit face to face. "The police took them to separate places for further interrogation," sources said.
The murder of prominent businessman Gopal Khemka, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Ramgulam Chowk under Gandhi Maidan police station, has sent shockwaves in the state capital with the state government under pressure to swiftly solve the case. The incident had taken place when he was coming to his residence around 11.35 pm on the fateful night from the Bankipur club by his car.
However, with the arrest of the accused on July 8, police claimed to have solved the murder case of Khemka....
