PATNA, June 14 -- In a major decision to smoothen traffic flow, the railway ministry has approved construction of 223 rail over bridges (RoBs) across the state to replace the railway crossings. This will not only save travel time but will also make traffic safe and uninterrupted on the roads of the state, said road construction department (RCD) minister Nitin Nabin on Friday. The ministry gave its nod for building 223 RoBs during a meeting held in the railway board on Thursday , which was attended by additional chief secretary (RCD) Mihir Kumar Singh, member, Infrastructure, Railway Board, Naveen Gulati and East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur, Chhatrasal Singh. In the meeting, it was informed by the railway board that the detailed project reports (DPR) of 12 ROBs / RUBs (rail under bridges) have already been approved by the Railway Board. Those projects given nods include ROBs at railway gate of Saharsa(Saharsa Junction-Baijnathpur road), Chhapra(Chhapra Junction-Chhapra Kachhari road), Sitamarhi (Sitamarhi-Dumra road), Gaya (Paharpur-Gurpa road and Paraiya-Guraru road), Lakhisarai (Abhaypur-Masudan road and Kajra-Abhaypur road), Jamui (Jhajha-Simultala road), Munger (Jamalpur-Dashrathpur road), Aurangabad (Feshar-Baghoi Kusa road and Jakhim-Baghoi Kusa road) and in Muzaffarpur (Motipur-Mehshi road). It is worth mentioning that by running a campaign from March to May, no objection certificate (NOC) was given by the railways to build ROBs on all 223 railway crossings as proposed by the RCD. Along with this, NOC was also given for 236 out of the other 259 LC (located on the roads of other departments such as rural works department) railway gates. RCD minister Nabin said the target of bringing Patna from any place in the state within 3:30 hours will become a reality upon construction of the new RoBs. "Not only will there be relief from the jam at railway crossings on the state roads, but traffic will also become more safe and smooth," the minister added....
