PATNA, June 13 -- In a bid to speed up the trial process to bring down the huge number of pending cases, Bihar police has decided to deploy Court officers and Court Nayabs on the line of Delhi police and the CBI, said a senior official at the police headquarters. At present, there are around 17-lakh pending cases in Bihar's different courts. Bihar has around 1,800 Sessions and Magestrial Courts besides 1,386 police stations. The Court Nayab (Nyayalay), Court Nayab (Thana) who will be constable/havildar or ASI ranks would be entrusted with the responsibility of quick compliance of court summons, property attachment orders, arrest warrants, red warrants and non-bailable warrants. Court Officers will be the rank of SI or ASI. Court Nayab (Nyayalay) deputed in every court while Court Nayab (Thana) in every police station. Both will meet each other in the court premises and share information and paper related issues. "For better coordination with the courts, there will be Court officers, who will work to ensure speedy trial. Court Nayab (Thana) will attend courts, collect judicial orders and hand them over to concerned SHOs to execute them. The experiment had been done in Patna and it was successful and now it would be implemented across the state," said ADG (CID) Paras Nath on Thursday. He said the Court Officers would coordinate with the APP/PP, Prosecution Officer as well as the District Prosecution officers and they would be deputed to District Court, ADJ Court and Special Court. The court officers would keep track of day-to-day activities in court as well as judgments and orders for timely required action at various levels. Paras Nath said that for trials, production of witnesses in the courts constituted an important step . "For that, vehicles have been arranged in all the districts. He said that in the last five months, 52314 accused got imprisoned in 38071 cases. Three of them announced capital punishment, 489 of them got life time imprisonment, 246 accused imprisonment upto Ten years or more, 585 convicts imprisonment between 2 and 10 years and 1093 of them got imprisonment of two years. During the trial process in these cases 17207 police personnel, 3318 doctors and 49,515 witnesses were disposed of before the courts. The Bihar police chief Binay Kumar specially focused on the trial in the cases regarding Dacoity, Robbery, Kidnap for ransom, Arms Act, Prohibition, attack on police, killing by bullets, crime against women, children and elderly. The Bihar police identify 860 cases across Bihar and send it to the District Judges for speedy trials while urging them to dispose of 1766 appeal cases filed by the trouble makers....
