Bihar police plans to set up two schools for wards of its staff & officials
PATNA, May 3 -- Bihar police has proposed to set up two schools on the pattern of Sri Krishna Arakshi Bal Vidyalaya, Hazaribagh (now in Jharkhand), to facilitate quality education to the wards of its staff and officers.
Sri Krishna Bal Vidyalaya was opened in 1953 as a residential school in the undivided Bihar in accordance with the provisions of Bihar Police Manual. The move followed a proposal from a retired director general of police Arvind Pandey.Officials and constables of Bihar police have been deprived of a dedicated school for their children after separation of Jharkhand since 2000.
As per the letter issued by additional director general of police (ADGP), budget and welfare, on April 14 all the DGP, ADGP, inspector generals (IGs), and deputy inspector generals (DIGs) have been asked to send their suggestions on the police headquarter's proposal on setting up Bihar Police Schools at two locations, one in Patna and another at Saran. Arvind Pandey, who has been pursuing the plan for setting up a dedicated school for police officials since he was serving as the DGP, said that he has submitted a proposal to then DGP, Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey. "However, the proposal got stuck up and nothing concrete happened. Again, recently I met the present DGP Vinay Kumar and additional chief secretary (education) S Siddharth and discussed the proposal," said, adding that the police manual envisaged opening of a residential school.
Pandey suggested the idea of opening residential school, as it would be convenient for the police personnel to remain unfazed about the education of their wards even in case of transfers. "There are a lot of women in the police force. The residential schools will help them discharge their duties, without caring for the education of their children," he argued....
