PATNA, May 11 -- Even though India and Pakistan announced ceasefire after a fierce confrontation over past few days in the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Bihar government has put in place all preparations to face emergency like situations. On Saturday, the state government directed the energy department to keep emergency power system in readiness so that power could be provided to hospitals and other essential services in cases there are power cuts from main feeders. "Yes, we have asked the energy department to keep in readiness alternative feeders to provide power to hospitals so that health facilities could run smoothly incase of emergency. The instructions have been given to all districts to ensure that power is provided to hospitals from alternative feeders incase there are power cuts from the main feeders in an emergency," said chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena. Sources said that the alternative feeders would provide power to hospitals and other essential services for certain period of time in times of emergency when the main feeders providing power to a large area is shutdown, in times of any emergency. The directives have issued for keeping emergency power system in readiness following instructions passed by the union home ministry in view of the ongoing India-Pakistan tension and preparations being made incase the conflict further escalates. The chief secretary also said that state government had passed instructions to all DMs to maintain supply of essential goods in districts and ensure that there is no hoarding of any essential items in view of the ongoing Indo-Pak conflict. "We are keeping a close watch on the supply of goods and other necessary items," Meena said....
