PATNA, June 14 -- The Congress party has convened a meeting of its legislators and Members of Parliament (MPs) in Patna on June 15 to chalk out its campaign strategy for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, scheduled to be held in October-November this year. The meeting holds significance as it is expected to help the party assess potential turncoats-those likely to switch loyalties if denied tickets or in pursuit of better electoral prospects. Attention will be focused on three to four Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) who have largely remained absent from key meetings of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) in recent months. BPCC media department head Rajesh Kumar Rathor confirmed that while the meeting is of the legislature party, Congress MPs have also been invited to participate. "Although the agenda has not been officially announced, it is widely believed that discussions will revolve around formulating the party's campaign strategy for the impending polls," he said. Senior Congress leaders have hinted that the party is also considering dropping some sitting MLAs and finalizing prospective candidates for several seats it plans to contest under the INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) umbrella. Among the seats being reviewed for candidate changes are Buxar and Manihari. The meeting will be presided over by All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Bihar Krishna Allavaru, who has been stationed in the state for the past few months, visiting various districts to spearhead the party's outreach efforts. Other prominent attendees will include BPCC chief Rajesh Kumar, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan, and MLC Madan Mohan Jha. A senior BPCC leader noted that the party may also begin the process of identifying potential constituencies and candidates for the upcoming elections. The Congress is aiming to contest around 90 seats....
