Bihar Cabinet gives nod to creation of 4,799 posts
PATNA, June 4 -- The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for filling up 4,799 posts of various categories in different government departments. A maximum of 2,361 posts of different categories have been created in the education department, followed by 1,350 posts in urban development and housing department (UDHD).
A total of 47 decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar. Briefing news persons after the meeting, additional chief secretary (cabinet) S Siddharth said that the cabinet approved creation of 1,503 posts in the education department, which included 568 posts of education development officer and 935 posts assistant education development officer under Bihar education administrative cadre rules 2025..
The decision to create these posts will help in carrying out micro-level monitoring of schools right from primary to higher secondary level to ensure quality education in the state, he said. Assistant education development officer will be given the job of inspecting and monitoring schools of every 10 panchayats while education development officer will monitor schools at block level.There are 8,053 panchayats and 534 blocks in the state.
The cabinet also gave UDHD's proposal for creation of 1,350 posts for running offices constituted under the planning area authority in every district. As many as 653 posts has been created under Bihar state Jeevika fund credit cooperative federation ltd, Patna, which has been constituted under Bihar cooperative society act 1,935, said the ACS, adding that 390 posts for the women and child development corporation have been created for better implementation and monitoring of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005.
The Act talks of creating posts of protection officers in every district to ensure the protection of women from domestic violence. These officers will be appointed at state headquarters level (corporation)/ district/ sub-division.
VAT on ATF reduced to 4%
The cabinet approved reduction of VAT from the current 29% to 4% on aviation turbine fuel (ATF), said Siddharth, adding that the move would allow the aeroplanes to refuel at Patna. It would increase the numbers of flights and make the state competitive on par with neighbouring states.
Areas of townships in Patna expanded
It also gave its nod to UDHD's proposal to expand the area of municipal councils of Phulwarisharif, Danapur nizamat and Khagaul in Patna district. It would enable the residents to get facilities provided by urban local bodies. Besides, the move would increase the urban area.
Jeevika to supply school uniforms at Anganbadi Kendras
In yet another important decision, children (03-06 age) getting pre-school education at Anganwadi Kendras will now get uniform prepared by Jeevika, Bihar. The cabinet took a decision in this regard making an amendment in the existing provision as per which Rs.400 per child per year is given into the bank accounts of parents. Two sets of uniforms will be provided by Jeevika, Bihar at Anganwadi Kendras, the ACS said, adding that Jeevika would get an annual increase of 5% in the rate of uniform.
IIWA to build ship repairing unit, dry dock in Patna
The cabinet gave its nod to handover five acres of land on the southern flank of river Ganga at Mauja Dujra Diyara in Patna on lease for 25 years to Indian Inland Waterways Authority of India to set up ship repair installation and and construction of dry dock, ACS said....
