Bihar: Gold worth Rs.1.60 cr seized from car
KISHANGANJ, Dec. 2 -- Kishanganj police busted a gold smuggling racket, seized 1.4 kg of gold, and arrested one person on Sunday night.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sagar Kumar said, "Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a car near Rampur checkpost and seized smuggled gold worth Rs.1.60 crore."
The arrested man has been identified as Milind Samanto, a resident of Kolkata. Police also seized his mobile phone and are examining call records as well as the route taken by the vehicle used for smuggling.
Police sources said the car was travelling from Kolkata to Siliguri.
"The possibility of a larger network behind the smuggling cannot be ruled out, and more arrests are likely soon," an official said....
