Aurangabad: Medical shop owner shot dead, 1 arrested
AURANGABAD, Feb. 1 -- A medical store owner was shot dead at a betel shop near Nawadih Turning under Town police station in Aurangabad district late on Friday night, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Junaid (40), a resident of Nawadih locality, had gone to the nearby betel shop after closing his shop at 11pm when two criminals on a bike came and repeatedly shot him and fled away, police said.
Family members and locals rushed the critically injured businessman, who had two bullet wounds on chest, to the local hospital where doctors referred him to a higher health-care centre. But he died on the way to Narayan Medical College and Hospital at Jamuhar in adjacent Rohtas district, police said.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Aurangabad Sanjay Kumar Pandey said that a case had been registered under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act against seven named and some unidentified accused. One of them was arrested and raids were on to arrest other absconding accused.
Four months back, the deceased's cousin Minhaz alias Bullet was also shot and critically injured near the same place but he survived. A case was registered with the Town police station. Three accused were arrested and sent to jail. Two of them were still in jail but one Maddy had recently come out on bail. He had committed the crime with shooters hired from Jharkhand, the deceased's elder brother Mohammad Rashid said....
