PATNA, May 16 -- Another army jawan of Bihar, Manish Kumar (25) was martyred while on duty in the Ladakh sector of the Union Territory. He was serving as a nursing assistant in the Indian Army when the incident occurred amid heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border. Manish, a resident of Pandeygangaut village under Kauakol block of Nawada district, had returned to duty in Ladakh shortly after his marriage solemnised on March 6, 2025. The news of his death has cast a pall of gloom over the village, where locals have begun preparing for his last rites. "A colonel rank army official informed my son Pintu Kumar about Manish's martyrdom through a phone call," said father of the slain official Ashok Ram, adding that his son had joined Indian Army in 2018. LoP Tejashwi Yadav expressed his condolences through a post on social media platform X. "We are proud of his martyrdom," Yadav wrote, adding that he had spoken to Manish's family to offer support.
