Arms & ammunition recovered from house of suspended cop
PATNA, June 7 -- The Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police, with the help of Samastipur police, arrested five people-including a suspended constable-for allegedly plotting to murder two persons in Samastipur district.
The operation led to the seizure of multiple firearms, including an AK-47, an INSAS rifle, a carbine, Rs.1.40 crore in cash, and documents related to immovable assets worth crores of rupees.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Saroj Singh, a suspended constable, along with Nishant Kumar Rai (of Begusarai), Prashuram Singh, Vishwajit Singh, and Munna Yadav. According to Additional Director General (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan, searches at Saroj Singh's premises uncovered the plot to kill Prince Mukhiya and Naveen Singh.
The ADG further stated that a police team had reached Saroj Singh's premises at Sultanpur Purab under the jurisdiction of Mohiuddin Nagar police station to arrest him. However, Singh and his associates tried to flee while opening fire on the security forces. The security forces managed to overpower them without any injuries to the police.
"Saroj Singh is a 2008-batch police constable of the Jehanabad traffic police. He was suspended after Jehanabad police found that Saroj had over nine criminal cases registered against him at Mohiuddin Nagar police station between April 2014 and December 2024 under various sections of the IPC/BNS and Arms Act," said Samastipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Mishra. The SP added that the seized arms are being sent to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for analysis.
STF personnel also raided Sarita Vatika (Jhunjhun Mahal) in the Gardanibagh police station area of the state capital, recovering Rs.3.40 lakh in cash, a currency counting machine, and land-related papers valued at Rs.1.40 crore.
Another STF team raided Saroj Singh's rented accommodation in the house of a former ward councillor, Mahananad Rai at Nayatola under Danapur police station area in Patna, where police seized a land agreement document valued at Rs.11 lakh.
A third STF team raided and searched the office of BL Infra EVE Private Limited (a real estate business) in the Rupaspur police station area. Police seized 40 land agreements valued at Rs.2 crore....
