PATNA, Dec. 6 -- With the arrest of three persons, Araria police on Friday claimed that the murder of Shivani Verma, a teacher of Kanhaili Middle School in Narpatganj block, had been solved on the third day. She was murdered due to her mistaken identity, they added. Those arrested were identified as Mohd Maroof, Mohd Sohail and Hushn Ara, residents of Forbesganj. Police also recovered a motorcycle and firearm used in the crime. Purnea range DIG Pramod Mandal said on December 3, Shivani Verma, (25) a native of Barabanki, UP, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants while she was on way to school. An SIT was constituted under Forbesganj SDPO for carrying out investigation. "Investigation revealed that the murder was a contract killing. One Hushn Ara had conspired to kill her husband on suspicion of having an illicit relationship with another woman teacher posted in Bhawanipur primary school. She hired contract killer and paid Rs.3 lakh for her elimination. The contract killer misidentified Shivani Verma, thinking that she was the target, because the real woman teacher was on leave that day and both of them had the same route and scooty," Mandal said....
