Alinagar MLA Mishrilal Yadav resigns from BJP
DARBHANGA, Oct. 12 -- Just a month before the Bihar assembly elections, sitting BJP MLA from Alinagar, Mishrilal Yadav, resigned from the party, alleging that backward classes and Dalits were being disrespected within the party.
"My self-respect has been hurt. Even as an MLA, I was not given due respect in the party. Therefore, my continued stay in the BJP is not justified," Yadav said in his resignation letter.
Yadav was elected from the Alinagar assembly constituency in 2020 on a Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) ticket and later joined the BJP-led NDA.
His assembly membership was cancelled in June 2025 following his conviction in a 2019 assault case, but the Patna High Court reinstated it a month later.
He claimed that the NDA had won the Alinagar seat for the first time because of his efforts, but now the party had sidelined him and his community.
Amid speculation about his next political move, Yadav said he had entrusted his son with the responsibility of deciding the family's political future and hinted at the possibility of joining the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The Alinagar constituency, created after the 2008 delimitation, elected RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui in the 2010 and 2015 assembly elections. However, in 2020, RJD candidate Vinod Mishra lost the seat....
