PATNA, Sept. 9 -- Bihar police headquarters and the Shashatra Seema Bal (SSB) on Monday alerted the border outposts (BOPs) and districts bordering Nepal in view of continuing violent protests in the neighbouring country. The SSB has intensified vigilance and is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any spillover of unrest into Indian territory. The SSB official familiar with the matter emphasised that the current alert is "preventive in nature", and the situation remains under control. According to the SSB officials, adequate deployment is in place at the border, and strict checks have been implemented at several border outposts. A senior police officer of the police headquarters said that the alert has been sounded to prevent unscrupulous elements taking advantage of the disturbance in Nepal to sneak through. "The Nepal government is handling the situation and so far there is nothing serious in areas adjoining Bihar, but as several districts are bordering, we have alerted our forces to be more vigilant. Movement across the border has been restricted," he added....
