AIMIM supporters demand resignation from Pappu Yadav
PURNEA, Nov. 18 -- The jubilant AIMIM leaders and supporters have demanded resignation from Purnea lawmaker Pappu Yadav after AIMIM Bihar president Akhatarul Iman retained his Amour Assembly seat. Yadav had predicted the defeat of Iman during the electioneering and declared to quit politics in case his prediction turned out to be untrue.
"Our leader not only won Amour seat but also pushed Congress candidate to the third position," AIMIM supporters said while demanding immediate resignation from Pappu Yadav.
Even Akhtarul Iman while raising the question over Pappu Yadav's remark said, "We are waiting for his resignation."
"What our leader (Asaduddin Owaisi) had predicted during the election campaign turned out to be true," AIMIM supporters said.
Pappu Yadav who resorted to social media said, "I will continue to fight for the Muslim brethren," adding, "I am against both RSS and AIMIM."
AIMIM had fielded 14 candidates in Seemanchal's districts (Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj and Purnea) and five of them won. Seemanchal has 24 seats.
AIMIM secured 7, 95, 797 votes in 14 assembly segments in Seemanchal. The party retained all five seats it had won in 2020 and defeated JD(U) on two seats (Amour and Jokihat). The party candidates defeated RJD, Congress and BJP on Kochadhaman, Bahadurganj and Baisi seats respectively.
Besides, the party caused a grand alliance in Kasba (Purnea), Pranpur (Katihar) while the party turned out to be instrumental in the defeat of JD(U) on the Araria seat. Congress candidate Abidur Rahman retained the seat by defeating Shagufta Azim of JD(U). AIMIM secured 53,421 votes here.
"We defeated not only GA candidates but also NDA," an AIMIM leader said while rejecting the criticism that AIMIM had been a B team of BJP.
AIMIM continued to focus on proportionate Muslims' participation in electoral politics and that appealed to the Muslims very much.
"Yes, their Muslim leadership issue appealed very much and it gained further momentum when Mukesh Sahni was declared dy CM in the possible GA government," Political observer Naresh Kumar Srivasatava said, claiming, "Muslims can longer be used as vote bank and this has been proved in this election." He said, "This Bihar election is a lesson for those secular parties which have been taking their support in the name of RSS and BJP."
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi continued to raise the issues of Muslim leadership and backwardness of Muslims and finally succeeded in performing much better than Congress and RJD in Seemanchal where RJD somehow managed to win Raniganj (SC) seat in Araria. Congress however did better by winning four seats (Araria, Forbesganj, Kishanganj and Manihari).
NDA won 14 seats with BJP seven (Purnea, Katihar, Korha, Pranpur, Banmankhi, Sikti and Narpatganj), JD(U) five (Dhamdaha, Rupauli, Barari, Kadwa and Thakurganj)....
