AIMIM bags 5, retains grip over Seemanchal
PURNEA, Nov. 15 -- All India Muslim Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) took a befitting revenge against RJD in Seemanchal where it retained all five seats. The party has registered over two per cent votes in this election.
AIMIM has won five seats which include Baisi, Amour, Bahadurganj, Kochadhaman, and Jokihat. It had fielded 14 candidates in Seemanchal's four districts - Purnea, Araria, Katihar and Kishanganj -- with altogether 24 assembly constituencies.
Bihar president Akhtarul Iman won Amour seat by defeating JD(U) candidate Saba Zafar by the margin of 38, 928 votes, while on Jokihat that witnessed sibling rivalry as two sons of heavyweight RJD leader Mohd Taslimuddin, Mohd Sarfaraz Alam and Mohd Shahnawaz fought on JSP and RJD tickets respectively, both lost to AIMIM's candidate Mohd Murshid Alam who defeated JD(U)'s Manzar Alam by 28, 803 votes.
In Bahadurganj and Kochadhaman seats, AIMIM's Mohd Tauseef Alam (Congress turncoat) and Mohd Sarwar Alam, respectively registered their win on their seats.
In Bahadurganj AIMIM's Mohammad Tauseef Alam a Congress turncoat defeated Congress nominee Mohammad Masawar Alam by 28, 726 votes. In Kochadhaman seat Mohammad Sarwar Alam of AIMIM defeated RJD's Mujahid Alam a JD(U) turncoat by 23021 votes.
In Baisi seat, AIMIM candidate Ghulam Sarwar defeated BJP's Binod Yadav by 27,251 votes. Here, RJD's Abdus Subhan was pushed to the third. After winning Bahadurganj seat Mohammad Tauseef Alam said, "The verdict is a blow to the arroagance of Tejashwi Yadav who didn't even listen to our leader when he (Iman) made attempt to incorporate AIMIM into the Grand Alliance (GA).
Prior to the notification of Bihar election, AIMIM left no stone unturned to become a constituent of GA but Tejashwi Yadav didn't pay much heed to the repeated demand of AIMIM.
Besides, AIMIM has caused damage to grand alliance (GA) candidates on over six seats in Seemanchal.
The party fielded 14 candidates in Seemanchal.
Addressing reporters in Hyderabad, party chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, "I am grateful to the people of Bihar. Especially, I have been saying from the beginning that RJD would not be able to stop BJP. You can check my speeches. I had said that. Today also, I am appealing to those people in Bihar who have misconception about the 'MY' (Muslim and Yadav) combination," In an apparent reference to minority voters in Bihar, he urged them to become "vote takers" rather than just "vote givers", saying it would help promote leadership among them and also check "communal and fascist forces".
He added that non-BJP parties like RJD need to examine why they were not able to prevent the BJP's growth. "Those who feel relieved by abusing him are welcome to do so."
Referring to the Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav's reported comments blaming the rout of 'Mahagathbandhan" in Bihar on SIR, he said the non-NDA parties should focus on addressing their own weaknesses. "If you feel that we are big and people would vote for us, first of all you have to be humble. If you think that you are a 'Raja' and voters are your people, that era has come to an end," he said. AIMIM had entered Bihar's electoral politics in 2015 and for the first time it won the seat in by election on Kishanganj seat and in 2020 the party surprised all by winning five seats. Later in 2022, four of its MLAs defected to RJD, leaving Akhtarul the lone MLA of the party in Bihar. It was Iman who had then said, "You can take away our MLAs but not our supporters."...
