PURNEA, Nov. 14 -- Counting for Bihar elections in Seemanchal is all set to decide the fate of two leaders - AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi and Purnea lawmaker Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, who claims to steer the Congress in the region. Besides, NDA is looking to increase its tally from 12 seats won by BJP (8) and JD(U) (4) in 2020 elections. RJD is hoping to reverse 2020 when it won just one seat. For NDA Dhamdaha, Katihar and Sikti seats are crucial as its ministers and ex-deputy CM Leshi Singh (JD-U), Tar Kishor Prasad (BJP) and Vijay Mandal (BJP) respectively are in the fray. In 2020 BJP had emerged as the largest party in Seemanchal's three districts Purnea, Katihar and Araria. "This time we will win even in Kishanganj and our tally will increase," Kishanganj BJP president Sushant Gope claimed. AIMIM, that sprang up in 2020, leaving political analysts astonished by securing five seats two each in Kishanganj and Purnea and one in Araria, is believed to face the battle for existence. The party is locked in a triangular fight everywhere in Seemanchal. "If it succeeds at least in making the contest triangular on all five seats where the party had won in 2020, it would be able to give it some reasons to carry on politics in Bihar," political observers said. AIMIM Bihar president is in the fray against JD(U)'s Saba Zafar and Congress veteran Abdul Zalil Mastan on Amour seat. The party had won Kochadhaman and Bahadurganj seats in Kishanganj, Baisi and Amour in Purnea and Jokihat in Araria in 2020. "The party contested the polls alone after RJD spurned its demand for incorporating it as a constituent of grand alliance," Mohd Nasim, a supporter of AIMIM said. AIMIM which entered Bihar electoral politics in 2015, opened its account in 2019 by election when Mohd Qamrul Hoda won Kishanganj. Meanwhile, Pappu Yadav almost single handedly campaigned for Congress, especially in Seemanchal. "Of 12 seats the party fielded in Seemanchal, three (Kasba, Forbesganj and Banmankhi) are known as candidates of Pappu Congress and their results will decide his relations with the Congress in future," a senior Congress leader told HT....
