ADM in EC net for 'helping' candidate
SASARAM, Oct. 29 -- Rohtas additional district magistrate, who is also the returning officer (RO) of the area, has been allegedly caught "extending help" to a Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) candidate in Chenari (SC) assembly constituency. Rohtas district magistrate (DM) Udita Singh has formed a three-member inquiry team to investigate the matter.
The Opposition parties have deemed it as the misuse of the official machinery to influence the elections.
According to reports, additional DM Lalit Bhushan Ranjan was caught in an audio talking to LJP (R) candidate Murari Prasad Gautam whom he allegedly spoke of assisting the candidate in the ongoing elections. Gautam had won the 2020 elections from the same constituency, but he had switched to the NDA and was even later made a minister.
The HT has the clip of the audio and the copy of the DM's order but it doesn't validate the authenticity of the audio.
The DM in her order, issued on Monday, stated that she had received an audio clip on her WhatsApp that is viral on Facebook. "A three-member inquiry committee is being constituted to verify the authenticity and veracity of the viral audio clip. The committee will be chaired by deputy development commissioner (DDC) and deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) and deputy election officer of Rohtas are its members," her letter read.
The DM has directed the probe team to conduct a technical analysis regarding the authenticity of the viral audio....
