PATNA, Nov. 25 -- Four casual workers of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) in Pusa, were injured when an acid-filled old bottle exploded near a garbage heap during cleaning on Monday morning. The injured workers were immediately rushed to the sub-divisional hospital while three of them were later referred to Patna's Appolo Burn Hospital for better treatment. Those injured were identified as Sitaram Sahni (50), Sajjan Paswan (35), Saurabh Kumar (27) and Lakshman Mandal (38). All were residents of Simri village under the Chakmahesi police station area and have been working at the university on contract for the past six years. As soon as information about the incident was received, agriculture minister Ramkripal Yadav reached Burn Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured workers. He received detailed information from the doctors present at the hospital and gave instructions to immediately provide all the necessary medical facilities for better and quick treatment of the injured. Yadav also directed the Vice Chancellor of the University to ensure all possible assistance and support to the injured workers and their families. "We directed the University authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of this accident so that such incidents do not recur in future and safety standards can be implemented more strictly in all laboratories," said Yadav.
