ACB conducts extensive raids in jharkhand land fraud case
RANCHI, Sept. 29 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Jharkhand conducted extensive investigations on Sunday in Hazaribagh land scam case in which automobile showroom owner Vinay Kumar Singh is the prime accused.
An FIR in the matter was registered on September 25 under sections 120 B, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of IPC and sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Hazaribagh ACB police station.
"Coordinated raids were conducted at four locations against the accused, Vinay Kumar Singh, in this case. Four special raiding teams of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ranchi, conducted these raids from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m," the press release issued by the ACB read.
The press release mentioned the names of four locations and all the locations in Ranchi.
"The location where raids were conducted included 3rd Street, Annatpur, Chutia, Ranchi, S.S Motogen Pvt. Ltd. (Tata Motors Showroom), Dibdih, Ranchi, Nexgen Solution Technology Pvt. Ltd., Dibdih, Ranchi and an apartment at Peace Road in Lalpur in Ranchi. , RPO Lalpur, Ranchi," the press statement said.
The press statement informed that during the raid several electronic items and files were seized.
The seizure list included 198 files, 27 CPUs, one laptop, four 4 deeds (land-related documents) and two mobile phones.
ACB ADG Priya Dubey could not be contacted for his comment despite repeated attempts.
An ACB official said it was a routine exercise.
"Singh was arrested on September 25 in Hazaribagh forest land scam. After his arrest, this is a routine exercise," the ACB official said.
A high court advocate close to the matter said that it has come for fore that Vinay Singh, in connivance with jailed IAS officer Vinay Kumar Choubey and other government officials, illegally mortgaged notified forest land in 2013.
"The ACB investigation revealed that non-cultivable forest land, classified as deemed forest land, was illegally registered in the names of Vinay Singh and his wife, Snigdha Singh. This process occurred when IAS officer Vinay Choubey, who was under suspension and put inside jail following corruption charges, was the deputy commissioner of Hazaribagh. An attempt was made to convert government land worth crores of rupees into private ownership by manipulating government records," the advocate said....
