Abducted HAM leader's body found
PATNA, May 30 -- The half-buried body of Rakesh Kumar Shah, alias Bikas Kumar, block chief of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) party from Sahebpur Kamal, was recovered from the banks of the Ganga in Munger district, police said. Shah had been abducted from Sandalpur village under Sahebpur Kamal police station in Begusarai on Saturday night.
According to police sources, Shah's decomposed body was found in Jafar Nagar under Muffasil police station limits in Munger and sent to Munger Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Munger police suspect he was killed elsewhere and his body was dumped in their area.
"The recovery came following the attachment of properties belonging to prime accused, Dablu Yadav. Preliminary findings indicate political rivalry or personal enmity as the motive behind the crime," said sub-divisional police officer Abhishek Anand. He confirmed the body had been positively identified as that of Rakesh Kumar.
Shah was a member of the 20-point programme committee of Sahebpur Kamal block. His mother, Shakuntala Devi, is a ward member of Sandalpur panchayat. Dablu Yadav, a known criminal from Gyantol in Sandalpur panchayat, is husband of sitting sarpanch Sita Devi.
Begusarai SP Manish said the exact motive behind the killing was still under investigation.
According to him, Dablu and his associates allegedly stormed Shah's house on Saturday evening. Locals told police that Shah had been opposing Dablu on certain issues, which reportedly led to the assault and abduction at gunpoint....
