MADHEPURA, July 6 -- In a gruesome incident, the body of an eight-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Bihar's Madhepura district, was found near her temporary settlement under the jurisdiction of Alamnagar police station on Saturday morning, police said, adding that corn cob had been inserted into the victim's private parts. The incident occurred while the child was sleeping beside her mother and reportedly went missing during the night. The girl's father, a migrant labourer, had left for Haryana two months ago, leaving behind his wife and daughter. The mother, who has been engaged in maize harvesting, had been living in a makeshift shelter near the maize fields for the past two to three months. "We have been staying here for maize harvesting, and most of the male members are migrant workers employed in other states," said relatives living nearby. They added, "The mother began searching for her daughter when she found her missing in the morning. Later, some locals spotted the body and raised an alarm."
