7-yr killed by crocodile in West Champaran
India, June 16 -- BETTIAH: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a seven-year-old boy was critically killed by a crocodile at a place in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), in Bihar's West Champaran on Sunday.
According to officials, victim, Abhishek Kumar, son of Kavi Raj, a resident of Gari Mandir area which falls under Valmikinagar police station area of Bagaha police district was attacked by the crocodile while he was taking bathe in Triveni canal body near Valmikinagar in Bagaha -2 block of West Champaran.
"The body of the child has been recovered and sent for postmortem. Prima facie, it appears that he died in an attack by a crocodile," Dr Nesamani K, VTR's wildlife conservator and field.
Compensation would be paid to the kin of the deceased as per the rule, he added....
