7 arrested with 21 stolen motorcycles
PATNA, May 5 -- Didarganj police on Sunday busted a gang involved in the theft of motorcycles and recovered 21 stolen motorcycles from the possession of the arrested persons. Seven persons were arrested from different areas of Didarganj and Vaishali, police said.
Rural superintendent of police (SP) Vikram Sihag said that the police had received a tip-off on Saturday morning that stolen motorcycles were being sold in the Nizampur Baghicha area. "Acting swiftly on the information, a special police team cordoned off the area and arrested three accused," he said.
The arrested individuals are residents of Nadi Thana in Didarganj and Rustampur in Vaishali district. Three motorcycles were recovered from them initially. During interrogation, they made startling revelations, prompting the formation of a special team under the leadership of Fatuha deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Nikhil Kumar. The team subsequently conducted raids and seized 18 more stolen motorcycles from the Rustampur police station area.
"In total, 21 stolen motorcycles have been recovered, and seven people arrested in connection with the case," the SP said.
He further said that the gang used to steal motorcycles and sell them to liquor mafias for Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000. These bikes were then used for the illegal transportation of liquor.
"The investigation into the criminal backgrounds of the arrested accused is underway. Information is also being shared with other police stations across the capital for further action,"the SP added....
