60-year-old arrested for raping minor
SUPAUL, Aug. 19 -- A 60-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 4-year-old girl distantly related to him in Bihar's Supaul on Monday. Police said the victim was undergoing treatment at Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital (JNKTMCH) Madhepura and her condition was stated to be critical. The accused was arrested, they added.
The incident took place in a village under Kishanpur police station Sunday evening when the accused allegedly took the girl to a local fair held on the occasion of Janmashtami. "While returning he committed the shameful act 50 -metre away from home and left her in a bush," family members said, adding, "After a frantic search we found the girl in the bush lying in a pool of blood."
Soon the girl was rushed to Supaul district hospital from where the doctor referred her to JNKTMCH, Madhepura citing her condition as critical.
After the child named the accused as Mohammad Nasim, he was thrashed by locals and handed over to police.
Confirming the incident, station house officer (SHO) Krishna Kumar said, "An investigation is underway and an FIR against the accused has been lodged under suitable sections of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) including POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act....
