6 Samastipur division stations to become 'Junction' from March 15
DARBHANGA, March 14 -- In a move aimed at strengthening the identity of key railway nodes, the East Central Railway has approved the addition of the word "Junction" to the names of six railway stations under its Samastipur division. The change will come into effect from March 15, according to a commercial notification issued by the railway headquarters in Hajipur.
The decision was taken by the competent authority following a recommendation from the Samastipur division, railway officials said.
Under the revised notification, the stations that will now officially carry the "Junction" tag are: Hasanpur Road Junction, Sitamarhi Junction, Saraygarh Junction, Supaul Junction, Kakarghatti Junction and Shisho Junction. Railway authorities clarified that the alphabetical station codes and numerical codes of these stations will remain unchanged. All concerned departments have been directed to update the revised names in their respective operational, ticketing, commercial and digital systems.
Officials said the addition of the "Junction" designation will help clearly identify these stations as rail points where multiple routes intersect, improving operational clarity and passenger awareness. It will also strengthen the recognition of these stations within the national railway network.
