5 paramilitary personnel injured, vehicle torched at counting centre
BHABUA, Nov. 15 -- At least five paramilitary personnel were injured when some BSP supporters started heavy stone pelting on them at the main gate of the counting centre on Bazar Samiti Mohania campus on Friday night, officials said.
The angry BSP men also torched the official vehicle of an official and tried to enter the counting centre.
Police resorted to lathi-charge and lobbed tear gas shells and controlled the situation after 30 minutes. The BSP supporters were furious and gathered at some distance from the counting centre.
They were raising slogans against the administration alleging that the administration was unfair and trying to make the BJP candidate winner.
The situation was fuelled after BSP candidate from Ramgarh constituency Satish Kumar Singh Yadav won in the counting and recounting of votes was started on petition of the nearest rival BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Singh, they said.
Superintendent of police (SP) Hari Mohan Shukla confirmed that three paramilitary personnel were injured and an official vehicle was torched by the mob. Recounting of votes continued under heavy police and paramilitary protection.
District magistrate (DM) Sunil Kumar and returning officer Kamla Kant Trivedi could not be contacted for information about the counting and recounting, even after repeated calls on their phones.
Meanwhile, the situation was very tense and supporters of the BSP candidate were reaching on tractors from Durgawati and Ramgarh areas....
