4 cops injured by cattle smugglers in W. Champaran
BETTIAH, Sept. 20 -- At least four security personnel were injured, three of them from Uttar Pradesh, after a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar police was allegedly attacked by cattle smugglers and a policeman's service revolver was snatched in Bihar's West Champaran district on Thursday late evening, police said.
Bagaha SP Sushant Saroj said the incident occurred when a police team from Uttar Pradesh's Kaptanganj reached Dahawa village under Dhanaha police station of Bagaha police district in search of a cattle smuggler called Rustam Ansari in coordination with local police around 8:30pm on Thursday.
"Just when the team reached the village to execute a warrant, Rustam and his three brothers went after the police team with lathis and as a result the policemen were injured," the SP said.
"During this, injured police assistant sub inspector (ASI) Pramod Kumar's service revolver and cellphone went missing. We got to know that Rustam walked away with the revolver," said SP Saroj....
