PATNA, May 31 -- Four Bihar police personnel, including the station house officer (SHO) of Bittha More police station, were allegedly beaten up by goons in neighbouring Nepal territory, police said on Friday. The police team, dressed in plain clothes, had entered Nepal without informing their seniors or coordinating with Nepalese authorities. They were reportedly trying to nab suspects involved in a motorcycle theft case. The unexpected entry of the Sitamarhi police team into Nepalese territory without prior intimation led to confusion and ultimately resulted in the police officials being assaulted. Two of the injured police officials are undergoing treatment at the Sadar hospital, and their condition is said to be out of danger. Sitamarhi Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Ranjan has suspended all four police personnel on charges of dereliction of duty.
