328k first time voters apply for roll enrolment in Bihar revision
PATNA, Aug. 25 -- As many as 328,000 prospective voters, who have attained the age of 18 years and above on July 1 or will attain the age to exercise their franchise on October 1, have submitted their forms and declaration for inclusion in the electoral list of Bihar, with eight more days still left, as per a press note issued by the Election Commission of India on Sunday.
As many as 243 electoral returning officers (EROs) and 2,976 assistant electoral returning officers (AEROs) are concurrently verifying the documents, an exercise which they have to complete by September 25.
Out of the 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16% claims and objections (1.21 lakh) for inclusion of eligible electors and exclusion of ineligible electors have also been received so far, of which 10 are from booth level agents (BLAs) of the CPLI(M-L) Liberation, among the 12 recognised political parties in Bihar.
The enumeration phase of ongoing SIR in Bihar was undertaken from June 24 to July 25 and the draft electoral rolls were published on August 1....
