PATNA, Nov. 28 -- A three-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at SKMCH after a brutal attack by a pet bulldog in Muzaffarpur, police said on Thursday. The victim was identified as Shivani, a resident of Mohjama locality under Paru police station. According to her father, Kamlesh Sahni, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when Shivani was walking with her siblings to attend a puja at the village temple. According to eyewitnesses, a man was walking his bulldog on a chain when it suddenly slipped from his hand, and the dog attacked the kids. While two siblings managed to escape, the dog grabbed Shivani in its jaws and mauled her for five minutes before anyone could intervene. The dog tore off her scalp and hair, causing her to lose consciousness. With the help of locals, the girl was rushed to the Central Health Centre (Paru), before being referred to SKMCH. "The girl had a severe head injury and was late in reaching the hospital," a doctor said....
