PATNA, May 25 -- Three members of a family were shot dead in a dispute over political supremacy and business hegemony in Bihar's Buxar district on Saturday. Two others were seriously injured in the clash.
The incident took place in Ahiyapur village under the Rajpur police station area.
Police said that the incident stemmed from a long-standing business dispute between two families of the same village over stocking of sand and gravel at a particular place. The two parties had a heated exchange a day earlier. Buxar SP Shubham Arya said, "The incident happened at around 5:15 am. In this matter between the two parties, two people died on the spot, while one died during medical treatment."
The police are currently investigating the matter, he added.
The deceased have been identified as Sunil Singh Yadav (40), and Vinod Singh Yadav (50), who lost their lives on the spot due to gunshot injuries while Virendra Singh Yadav (35) died during treatment at a hospital in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Mantu Singh Yadav (35) is critical and Pujan Singh (40) is out of danger.
Police said that an information was received that firing took place between the two groups of people in Ahiyapur village over a trivial issue. Sahabad range DIG Satyaprakash who himself visited the spot told HT that the reason behind the incident said to be supremacy between two groups over political reasons.
