SAMASTIPUR, July 10 -- At least three members of a family lost their lives after suffocating inside a septic tank in Salha Buzurg village under Larjha Ghat police station of Bithan block in Samastipur on Tuesday evening, police said. Deceased have been identified as Ram Umesh Sah (42), his younger brother Daya Ram Sah (38), and Daya Ram's 15-year-old son Radheshyam Sah - all sons and grandson of Bhunu Sahu. According to police, the incident occurred when the family attempted to fix a newly constructed toilet tank on their residential premises. The old adjacent tank was reportedly leaking toxic gases and wastewater into the new one. Ram Umesh Sah was the first to climb down the tank to inspect it but did not come out. Concerned, Daya Ram followed him inside, and when he too failed to return, young Radheshyam went in - all three eventually fell unconscious due to toxic gas inhalation. Hearing the family's cries for help, villagers rushed to the spot. With the help of a JCB machine, the tank was broken open and the three were rescued in an unconscious state. Police also arrived at the scene, led by officer Jitendra Kumar. The victims were first taken to Hasanpur community health centre (CHC) and later referred to Begusarai due to their critical condition....
