Jaipur, Sept. 9 -- Heavy showers lashed several parts of Rajasthan, triggering house collapses, landslides and flooding, while the Met department said the intensity of rainfall is likely to reduce from Tuesday. In Deeg district's Dubokar village, a two-storey house collapsed late Sunday night, killing two siblings. The deceased were identified as Zara Mev (5), who died on the spot, and her 17-year-old brother Saif, who succumbed later at the hospital. Their mother and four others were critically injured and were initially rushed to Kama Hospital before being referred to Bharatpur for advanced treatment. In Udaipur, a major landslide occurred on Monday morning near Jhadol on National Highway-58E (Udaipur-Jhadol-Idar), blocking traffic in both directions as large boulders rolled onto the road. Vehicles were stranded in long queues until clearance work began. Earlier in the night, a 26-year-old youth, Sheru, was swept away while fishing near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Bridge under Bhupalpura police station limits. Despite overnight rescue efforts by the Civil Defence team, he remains missing, and the operation resumed Monday morning. Another incident occurred in Udaipur's Sayra area, where an elderly man drowned while crossing the Tirol ki Boramcha culvert. His body was later recovered 7km downstream. In Sawai Madhopur's Chauth Ka Barwara, portions of the Government Senior Secondary School, including its veranda, collapsed on Monday morning-just hours before students were due to arrive. The building had been declared unsafe earlier, but no demolition action was taken. On September 9, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.
