3 die of asphyxia while cleaning kerosene tank
GAYA JI, Aug. 18 -- Three labourers died of asphyxia caused by poisonous gas while cleaning a long-closed kerosene oil tank in a godown at Guraru market under Guraru police station of Gaya ji district late on Saturday, police said.
The godown belonged to one Fulchand Seth, which closed down some seven years ago. Three persons had purchased it and had hired the labourers for cleaning. Seeing that there was some kerosene oil left in the tank, they had asked the labourers to take it out, police said
Deceased were identified as Chhotu Kumar (20) and Sagar Kumar (25) of Bara and Sonu Kumar (24) of Bahbalpur village. First, Chhotu went down the tank and fainted due to the poisonous gas. Rest two youths went down to save him but they also fainted. Locals somehow took them out and rushed to a health centre where doctors declared them dead, police said.
Angry family members and locals blocked the main road at Guraru Chowk with the bodies demanding registration of a murder case against the godown owner and compensation to the kin of deceased....
