3 cops injured in attack by liquor smugglers in West Champaran
BETTIAH, Aug. 21 -- At least three police personnel were injured and a police vehicle was damaged in an alleged attack by people involved in the illegal sale of liquor in West Champaran district on Tuesday night, officials said.
Officials further said that three policemen, posted at Valmikinagar police station, came under attack at Dhagadhiya village near Valmikinagar in Bagaha police district of West Champaran, when they raided the village after being tipped off about sale of liquor in the area at around 8pm on Tuesday.
"The team seized five pouches of liquor from the possession of the woman at Dhagadhiya village. The woman raised an alarm just when the team returned to the police vehicle with the seized consignment and as a result, a large number of villagers gathered," said Mukesh Chand Kunwar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Valmikinagar.
The enraged crowd attacked the police team, and also damaged the police vehicle.
The injured security personnel have been identified as Neeraj Kumar, Mantu Kumar and Gunjan Kumari....
