Bharatpur/Jhunjhunu, Dec. 15 -- Police have arrested three men of a gang for looting Rs.1 crore from ATMs across four states, officials said in Jhunjhunu on Sunday. Jhunjhunu superintendent of police Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay said that on November 15, the gang attempted to loot an ATM near a bus stand under Nawalgarh police station limits. The accused had blocked CCTV cameras inside the ATM cabin and tried to cut open the machine. On being informed, a police team reached the spot but the suspects fled before they could steal the Rs.54 lakh in the ATM at the time. "They targeted ATMs at night. Equipped with a cutter machine, they would spray CCTV cameras and within minutes, would loot the cash and flee," Upadhyay said. Police registered a complaint and announced a reward of Rs.10,000 on each accused. Special teams examined around 700 CCTV cameras along a 500-km route covering Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana to identify them. Those arrested were identified as Shakir Mev, 38, Taslim Mev, 30, and Robin Mev, 36 - residents of Haryana. During interrogation, the trio confessed to looting Rs.1 crore from ATMs in Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.
