PATNA, June 30 -- In a joint operation by STF and Darbhanga police on Saturday night, three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in demanding extortion money of Rs.2 crore from a Phulwarisharif-based doctor. The police recovered Rs.2.5 lakh cash, six live cartridges, one pistol, four cell phones and one magazine from their procession. An FIR was lodged with University (Darbhanga) police station in this regard. Police said, the arrested were identified as Noor Mohammad alias Lalbabu of Lahirchak Alampur Phulwarisharif and Mohammad Farhan of Ishopur Purni Masjid under Phulwarisharif police station in Patna. On the basis of information provided by the two, the STF also arrested Mohammad Saif of Purani Masjid. On June 28, the accused had reportedly demanded Rs.2 crore from the doctor and threatened to kill him if he did not pay. Later, a case was lodged with Phulwarisharif police station against Noor Mohammad alias Lalbabu Mohammad Farhan and Saif.
